Sports Injury
32 yrs old, Filipino female, a cyclic enthusiast fell from her bike in a very typical fashion with her left foot stuck on the peddle and knee hit on the floor leading to posterior cruciate ligament tear/ avulsion from the upper tibia surface. Presented to our sports medicine specialist Dr rajesh garg at HMS Al Garhoud hospital.
Patient was operated with open reduction and fixation with screws of the avulsed fragment.
PCL surgery is very challenging ( due to important vessels and nerve in the operating area) and satisfactory surgery for both surgeon and patient.
Patient was discharged the next day with full weight bearing walk with support and a very good acceptable reduction of the PCL.
Soon she will be back to her sports and cycling.
